Art Mason's Peaceful Warriors' Martial Arts Institute
The Founder
The Peaceful Warriors' Martial Arts Institute was Founder by Master Art_Mason in March 2000. After 16 plus years of training in the martial arts Master Mason decided it was time to venture out on his own. He opened his first school in Belle River Ontario.
The History
The Peaceful Warriors' open their doors to teach students in July 2000 in Belle River Ontario at Beachwalk Family Fitness Centre. The program was an immediate hit in the community growing to 40 members within the first few months. Along with partners and son's Curt Mason & Scott Mason the school was soon looking at expanding to meet the needs of the community. Curt Mason was tested and promoted to the rank of 4th Dan by the World Budo Alliance this year. Making him at Master at 18
In fall of 2001 the Peaceful Warriors' expanded their operations opening a main school in Windsor Ontario on Tecumseh Road and another branch school in Essex Ontario. At this time the Mason's also started to develop the art they would later name "Hon Sang Mu Sa Hapkido". Master Curt Mason developed a Cane self defense program, which allowed for outreach programs to seniors and the MS Society.
In fall 2002 Master Art expanded the school once again and opened a branch at St. Marks Church in Tecumseh Ontario. This branch was run by one of his first Black Belts Kevin Miller. At this time Mr. Miller is the Owner/Operator of the first Peaceful Warriors' Franchise School.
In September 2002, Master's Art Mason and Curt Mason registered the art as Hon Sang Mu Sa Hapkido with the World Budo Alliance. Thus making Master Art the Grandmaster of his system.
By spring 2003 the school was yet again expanding, moving from Beachwalk in Belle River to a private location about 1/2 mile down the street. This school was run by Scott Mason, who would be promoted to the rank of 4th Dan and Master that June. In June 2003 Master Art Mason left his employment at Chrysler to teach martial arts full time.
In August 2006 Art Mason's Peaceful Warriors moved it Windsor operation to Dougall Ave and a 2600 foot facility.
